Noah, Alexis, and I were honored to be able to join Life Technologies and Thermo Fisher on World Rare Disease Day on Friday, February 28th. We passed out blue ribbons to show support for all of the many families struggling with Rare Disease and to share information with so many who are unfamiliar with the staggering numbers of Rare Disease.
“Rare and Genetic Diseases affect approximately 30 million Americans or 1 in 10 people. It is estimated that 350 million people worldwide suffer from rare and genetic diseases. Over 7,000 types of rare and genetic diseases exist with more being discovered every day. Approximately 30% of children with these debilitating diseases will not live to see their 5th birthday.” (as quoted by Global Genes Project)
Noah and Alexis’s story brings hope to those families that are suffering from Rare and Genetic disease and we know that Hope has no boundaries. “We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:3-5
Praying that Hope goes out to all the families that are searching for answers, for treatments, for Hope. Praying they find exactly what they need.
